Text Box: Focusing in the severely damaged almond orchard we are studying treatment efficiency of commercial nematocides against the damage caused by the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne spp. in Almond orchards. In addition  Prunus rootstocks are being evaluated for resistance against local populations of the Root Knot Nematode Meloidogyne spp.

Text Box: Research on Mi  gene conferring resistance against nematodes and the occurrence of resistance breaking biotypes. For this study a comprehensive survey was conducted along tomato growing areas in Israel and the genetic factors  (genetic background and allelic stage) which might be important for overcoming resistance are being studied.

Text Box: With the existence of resistance breaking nematode population, the adjustment of pepper rootstocks  is of growing importance to minimize the occurrence of resistance breaking biotypes. In addition a deep survey has been accomplished aimed at identifying the races which cause disease on pepper and genetic variation among M. incognita isolateds is being studied.

Text Box: Understanding the molecular interaction leading to resistance or susceptibility response to plant parasitic nematode. Identification and characterization of plants factors as well as nematodes effectors that are involved in early recognition events in the plant nematode interaction . In particular we are studying the role of lipid signals  in regulating plant response to nematodes.  For that purpose we are  manipulating the fatty acids pathways in Tomato and Arabidopsis plants  and function analyzing their role in the parasitic interaction.

Text Box: Laboratory and field studies on the biocontrol agent the predatory nematode Koerneria sudhausi . We are interested in adjusting the critical conditions which are required for the predatory activity. In addition, we are involved in developing new biocontrol agents of  bacteria and fungi possessing nematicidial activity against the Root Knot Nematode.
